Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred Review

Diablo IVhit the ground running last year with an incredible campaign storyline, and I have been eagerly waiting to find out what would happen next ever since. Over the past week, I played through the Vessel of Hatredexpansion and checked out the new season. During this early access period, I played on a pre-launch build, which had quite a few bugs that should be fixed in the launch version. There have also been many changes and improvements to leveling, so there were no max-level characters to create and choose from. Instead, I made a new character and skipped the original campaign to start with Vessel of Hatred.

Additionally, my review will contain spoilers for the original campaign but not for the new expansion campaign. There’s so much I’m looking forward to discussing about the new storyline, but you really should experience it yourself. If you haven’t completed the entire Diablo IV campaign, skip right past the first section of this review. Seriously, if you haven’t played through the story that launched with Diablo IV last year, do that now. It’s well worth your time.

Vessel of Hatred Story

At the end of the Diablo IV campaign, Nyrelle chose to use the soulstone on Mephisto, and we killed Lilith. Afterward, Nyrelle ran off with the soulstone containing Mephisto, and Lorath trailed her. This is essentially where Vessel of Hatred picks up; it’s been a few months since our battle, and during that time, she's been researching and traveling with the soulstone. It’s taken an incredible toll on her, and she also seems to leave trouble in her wake. Considering her traveling companion, that isn’t surprising. Additionally, the church is still mad at us, especially Lorath and Nyrelle. They launch a brutal hunt for her, so our first mission is to find Nyrelle before the church does.
