A player has discovered a mysterious item that may solve a long-running in-game mystery.is no stranger to incredibly rare items and secret unlockables. Many of these are first confirmed to exist via datamining, then found organically in-game after some experimentation, be they legendary gear or hidden locations. Some of them, though, are much more bizarre. This is one of those latter examples, a hidden quest that rewards a completely useless item. It may be a simple reference to an infamous item from, or something much deeper.

players have discovered how to spawn the Ring of Misfortune, according to a Reddit post by Sowhatsthecatch. Although datamining confirmed its existence only shortly after launch, this is the first time in the ensuing year that a player has claimed to have found the ring. This unique item plays on the supposed unluckiness of the number 13, boosting various player stats by that factor. It also includes a Lucky Hit bonus that causes the player to lose all of their Resource (akin to mana or MP), making it actively dangerous to use in battle.

The Ring of Misfortune can only be obtained when five players, each of a different base class, each throw a Lucky Coin into the Wishing Well in Scosglen. This results in a meteor shower, after which everyone involved can pick up the unique item. It's a fun little secret quest, but its true significance is still up for debate.
