Cygni is one of the Epic Games Store’s two free games this week

Cygni: All Guns Blazing will be one of the free games on the Epic Games Store later this week.

As confirmed on the Epic Games Store itself, the Scottish-developed shoot ’em up will be free to claim from August 8 to August 15.

Also available during this time will be fighting game DNF Duel and a ‘Conduit Free Unlock Bundle’ for Apex Legends.

The trio will replace the currently available free games on the Epic Games Store, which are puzzle adventure LumbearJack and multiplayer shooter Rawmen: Food Fighter Arena.

As ever, players can claim the games for free on the Epic Games Store, and will own them in their Epic Games Store library for good, even after the free period ends.

Cygni is released tomorrow on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The shoot ’em up was developed by KeelWorks, a Scotland-based team led by brothers Meher and Nareg Kalenderian and co-founder Helen Saouma.

Following a period of early development, the publishing rights to the game were picked up by Konami.

VGC’s review of Cygni calls the game “an absolute must-have – not only for anyone interested in shoot ‘em ups, but for those craving constant action in their games in general”.

“Cygni is an exceptional evolution of the shoot ’em up genre, one that relentlessly pummels the player with enemies and explosions,” we wrote.

“Its combat is extremely satisfying and its lengthy stages and customisable elements make it the sort of game you’ll play through numerous times. We’d be recommending it as a full-price game, but at £25 / $30 it’s a no-brainer.”
