Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 Quietly Removes Alleged References To 9/11

The beta has seemingly removed a reference to 9/11. is a franchise that is notorious for including harrowing and controversial content in its campaign. In, players partake in a mass shooting at a Russian airport and kill countless civilians, sparking World War 3. Subsequent entries include more brutal terrorist attacks, torture, war crimes, and more. It's a series known for not pulling its punches and the games really lean into this due to viewing key parts of history through the lens of conspiracies.

Over the weekend, beta players discovered a calling card that seemed to feature images of former President George W. Bush and a plane hitting the World Trade Center on 9/11. The latter image appeared to be from the perspective of someone looking up at the building from the ground and witnessing the plane hitting the side of the tower. However, X (formerly Twitter) user TheGhostofHope noticed after a beta patch that Treyarch had removed these images with a revised version of the calling card.

As of right now, there are no official patch notes or statements regarding this calling card. has reached out to Activision for comment.

Activision has sent a cease-and-desist to another mod seeking to bring back a more classic Call of Duty experience.

Earlier this year, players began speculating that 9/11 would be depicted in due to imagery and language in marketing material. This was quickly shut down by Treyarch when press went to preview earlier this summer and the developer bluntly stated that the story would not feature the September 11 attacks.
