Baldur's Gate 3's Unofficial Mascot Just Received A Major Upgrade Thanks To This Mod

Devout players are likely very familiar with the unfortunate story of Bing Bong so those who want to give the beloved imp a second chance can now do so with this improved mod. While he may not be a character that actually appears in Larian Studios' RPG, Bing Bong has become somewhat of an unofficial mascot for thanks to a memorable performance by the game's cast during an actual-play performance before launch. His fate may have been tragic, but fans have never forgotten him.

Over on Nexus Mods, creator robogena shared their upgraded version of the «Bing Bong Summon» mod which features a number of quality-of-life improvements to make the imp even more of an asset in combat. These include the introduction of level scaling, new skills, passives, and some combat utilities to ensure that Bing Bong is able to better protect his best friend Shadowheart. Leveling up grants Bing Bong more health, attack roll buffs, and proficiency bonuses, while also ensuring that he deals more fire damage whenever he's hurled at an enemy.

A scene in the game focuses on Shadowheart and Lae'zel (played by Jennifer English and Devora Wilde, respectively) as the former befriends the imp and the latter becomes increasingly sick of his limited understanding of Common.

The community was quick to latch onto the dynamic, especially Shadowheart's fondness for the tiny imp, but he didn't last long. In the heat of battle, Lae'zel grabbed Bing Bong and threw him at a boss encounter, killing him in the process. A tragic moment that will be forever
