Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 6 Has Horrible, Unintended Consequences

Patch 6 brought plenty of appreciable improvements to , but it seems like this particular update may not be going over as smoothly as many of its predecessors. It's not uncommon for game fixes to introduce problems of their own, as even careful meddling with complex code often runs into unintended consequences. For the most part, however, has avoided making things worse with major patches, and an early hotfix that caused crashes for some players made the studio revise its approach to pushing fixes in general in favor of extreme caution.

The good parts of the newest patch cover a wide variety of areas, from new challenges in Honour Mode to quality-of-life improvements for universal aspects of the game, like party management. The most exciting one for some of the community may be the update to kissing, which adds a host of new animations and fixes to really sell the romance in the game. It can be harder to appreciate these benefits, however, if a player ends up being unlucky enough to experience more distracting issues than before.

Bugs can sometimes just be an amusing part of playing a game, and many of the issues that encountered both in early access and since its official release fall into this category. When enough bugs are in play, however, they tend to become more annoying than humorous, particularly when one that actually breaks the game or requires extensive workarounds crops up. A Reddit post from user Cygerstorm details some problems that they've encountered since the update, and it's a good look at how frustrating bugs can be.

Cygerstorm's problems include several examples of characters incorrectly turning aggressive, with Zevlor and Withers being two notable examples. Other issues deal with effects intended to be temporary, simply refusing to end, from Karlach's rage never ending to gnolls continually rising from hyena corpses.Level 3 also refuses to give way to Level 4 in their campaign, which could halt progress completely thanks to increasing imbalance.
