Baldur's Gate 3 Dev Larian Helped Fund One of 2019's Best Games

Larian Studios, the developer behind Baldur's Gate 3, was one of the biggest contributors to the Kickstarter campaign for 2019's Blasphemous. The indie Metroidvania title proved to be a great addition to the genre, and the studio behind Baldur's Gate 3 was one of the largest donors to the project.

With incredible sales and multiple Game of the Year wins, the studio knocked it out of the park with Baldur's Gate 3. Before Baldur's Gate 3, the studio wasn't nearly as well known in the gaming world, but everything changed once the game launched last year. The studio began working on Baldur's Gate 3 in late 2016, and during this time it seems like Larian Studios was also working towards funding other great projects as well.

A recent tweet from developer Enrique Colinet revealed that Larian Studios was one of the biggest contributors to Blasphemous' Kickstarter campaign back in 2017. Colinet is the Lead Level Designer at The Game Kitchen, the studio responsible for crafting Blasphemous. Since the Kickstarter campaign, Blasphemous has become an indie hit.

Even more impressive, Larian Studios never asked for any of the Kickstarter perks that were promised to donors. The studio simply wanted to help fund the project. Since then, Blasphemous has become a beloved indie game for many who have played it, even spawning a sequel that was released last year. The series has been hailed by many as some of the best horror Metroidvania games around.
