Astro Bot limited edition DualSense controller is available for preorder but selling out fast

The special edition DualSense controller celebrating Astro Bot is now available for preorder, but it’s selling out fast.

The controller, which features a white and blue design similar to Astro, is available on PlayStation Direct in the US and the UK, as well as regions in Europe where PlayStation Direct is offered. It’s also available via other select retailers.

The controller is priced at $79.99/ €79.99 / £69.99 and will be available in “limited quantities”.

In the UK, it appears to already be sold out on PlayStation Direct, but other shops like GAME still have pre-orders available at the time of writing.

The limited edition controller is based on the ‘living’ controller which can be seen in the first trailer for Astro Bot.

“We know many of you were hoping for this after seeing the game trailer,” Team Asobi studio head Nicolas Doucet said on the official PlayStation Blog.

“So, we quickly asked our lovely bots to engineer this beauty and tada! No, no, I’m just kidding, it had been in the making for some time, carefully crafted by the amazing teams at SIE. And what splendid work they did.

“The controller’s design features Astro’s signature blue accents on the handles and buttons, carved-in, sci-fi lines as well as the trademark playful pair of eyes on the touch pad. It is a true work of art, and we could not be happier with the end result at Team Asobi.”

Set for release in September, Astro Bot tasks players with rescuing “over 150 iconic VIP Bots inspired by legendary characters from 30 years of PlayStation history”, according to Sony.

The platformer follows Astro’s Playroom, the popular PlayStation 5 pack-in which has now been bundled with more than 60 million consoles.
