Astro Bot DLC will include challenge and speedrun levels

Astro Bot’s DLC plan will include new challenge levels and a speedrun mode.

Developer Team Asobi revealed the plans during a studio visit, attended by VGC, last month. A presentation suggested that it initially planned to add ten challenge levels and five speedrun levels post-release, though it’s unclear if those numbers are still accurate.

The PS5 platformer will release this week, on Friday, September 6, after more than three years of development.

Asobi has already released a stream of new content for the predecessor game Astro’s Playroom, with new characters added to that game carrying over to the next release.

VGC published our Astro Bot review today, alongside an in-depth feature on the making of the game, featuring insight from Team Asobi developers.

“That feeling of wonder, pure joy, and excitement at what was coming next carried us from the very first bot we rescued until we popped the Platinum trophy.

“Astro Bot is not only an astonishingly good platformer, it understands PlayStation‘s legacy better than PlayStation seemingly does itself. It manages to balance heaps of incredible nostalgia, with excellent, inventive levels that introduce new mechanics as quickly as it introduces references to the likes of PaRappa the Rapper.”
