Astro Bot concept art shows off missing PlayStation cameos

This article contains spoilers for some of the cameos in Astro Bot.

Concept art for Astro Bot has shown off some PlayStation cameos that haven’t made it into the final game.

The game, which was released on Friday, features over 150 cameos from PlayStation icons, past and present. However, while many franchises are covered, there are several that have been omitted.

Now, in a new video feature fromVGC showing off the making of the game, Team Asobi has shown a piece of concept art that appears to feature at least two characters that didn’t make it into the final game.

As you can see below, concept art for a cameo referencing Sweet Tooth from the Twisted Metal franchise and Fat Princess from the Fat Princess franchise, neither of which appear in the roster of over 150 rescueable cameo bots in the final game.

It’s possible that these bots will appear in the forthcomingAstro Bot DLC, which will include more challenge levels, and speedrun levels, but currently, neither character appears in the game.

While some notable PlayStation-associated third-party characters are missing from the full list of cameos, these two are both Sony-owned IP, making their exclusion slightly stranger. While Fat Princess has not had a new game in some time, a Twisted Metal TV series is currently ongoing.

VGC’s review of Astro Bot called it “The best 3D platformer of the decade.”
