April 17 is Going to Be a Big Day for Dead Island 2

Dead Island 2 has revealed that its second story DLC, titled SOLA Festival, is ready to drop next month. The first-person zombie slaughtering adventure released its first DLC, Haus, back in November. Dead Island 2 recently shared on Twitter that players collectively killed more than 66 million zombies in its popular Haus DLC.

Just a couple of days ago, Dead Island 2 took to Twitter again to release a very short 30-second teaser trailer for what's now confirmed to be its second story DLC. Revealing the SOLA Festival title, which likely stands for South Los Angeles, the trailer was a psychedelic whirlwind of colors and sounds. The teaser also revealed a number of fictional bands set to perform at this zany, undead LA music festival. Ending without any further details or a release date, the trailer left many Dead Island 2 fans wanting to learn more.

Now, just a few days later, Dead Island 2 hit Twitter once again to share that the SOLA Festival DLC is slated for release on April 17. The DLC will land just four days shy of a full year since Dead Island 2's initial launch. The SOLA release date announcement is accompanied by what's believed to be the DLC's key art: a zombie guitarist holding a guitar on stage in front of a crowd of terrified humans.

Many Dead Island 2 players under the SOLA announcement expressed hope that the DLC would be longer and offer up a larger map than its preceding Haus DLC, which many felt was too small in scope. Considering SOLA is an LA music festival, which are known for their expansive, sprawling lawns and crowds, it should be able to dwarf the Haus map, though none of Dead Island 2's maps are known to be massive. Like the Haus DLC, it's very possible that the SOLA Festival won't become available until several early chapters into Dead Island 2's main story. Haus was initiated by an invitation envelope found in Dead Island 2's early-game Bel-Air safe house mansion; SOLA may likely be triggered in the exact same fashion.
