Apple Says That The iPhone 15 Batteries Will Now Last For Twice The Previously Stated Number Of Charge Cycles, Increasing Their Lifespan

A smartphone’s battery is the least durable component out of the hundreds present inside that compact chassis, and its age will start to show after just a couple of years. Apple’s iPhone 15 series is no stranger to these degrading batteries, but thankfully, the company states that these cells are now more durable than previously estimated, thanks to the latest information provided.

It was previously mentioned that each iPhone 15 battery would retain 80 percent of its capacity at 500 charge cycles; that figure has doubled now

Apple states that it has updated its battery cycle lifespan for all iPhone 15 models, which is excellent news if you happen to be the proud owner of any of the four handsets launched last year. Previously, the technology giant specified that the battery inside an iPhone would retain 80 percent of its charge after 500 charge cycles. However, with the latest devices, those charge cycles have gone up to 1,000, making any iPhone 15 battery now tout an increased lifespan compared to previous-generation ones.

If you are wondering if the company disengaged some software lock or introduced a new change with the latest iOS 17.4 Beta 4, that is an incorrect assumption. According to 9to5Mac, Apple has simply stated that its testing involved charging and discharging the battery 1,000 times under specific circumstances representing common use cases. As for the improvements mentioned, they are due to Apple’s continued updates to battery components and power management systems over the years.

Sadly, if you are still holding on to your older iPhone, we have some bad news for you, as Apple says that this change in battery charge cycles only applies to the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max. The handsets that launched before this will continue to be rated at up to 80 percent capacity for 500 complete charge
