AMD Radeon RX 8000 “RDNA 4” GPU Leaks Out: 56 Compute Units Clocked at 2.1 GHz & 16 GB VRAM

AMD's next-gen Radeon RX 8000 "RDNA 4" GPU has leaked out at Geekbench, giving us a hint of its core count and memory specifications.

AMD Radeon RX 8000 GPUs Now Appearing At Geekbench 6, Features 56 RDNA 4 Compute Units & 16 GB VRAM

AMD's RDNA 4 GPUs are expected to launch next year under the Radeon RX 8000 series family but the first samples have started appearing at Geekbench, meaning internal testing is now underway as team red preps for an unveiling. Multiple entries of an SKU within the RDNA 4 lineup have been spotted along with its specifications.

Starting with the details, the GPU appears with a "GFX1201" Device ID, confirming that this is a Navi 48 SKU, the biggest of the two Navi 4X dies that will be introduced under the RDNA 4 family. AMD's Navi 48 GPU has been doing the rounds in online shipping manifestos.

The Navi 48 "GFX1201" GPU is listed with 28 compute units which should equal 56 computes given the new configurations used within RDNA 3 series. Each GPU has a shader engine that comes with dual compute units & if that remains the same for RDNA 4, then we can expect up to 56 compute units which is in between the RX 7700 XT (54 CU) and RX 7800 XT (60 CU) models.

The AMD Radeon RX 8000 "RDNA 4" GPU is also listed with its clock speed which is configured at 2101 MHz or 2.1 GHz. Current RDNA 3 GPUs can boost around 2.5-2.6 GHz with ease and since the RDNA 4 chips are expected to utilize a better node and a new architecture, the clocks do look a tad bit low but we can expect to see better frequencies as more samples appear closer to launch.

Last but not least, we have the memory of the AMD Radeon RX 8000 "RDNA 4" GPU SKU listed at 16 GB which matches the RX 7800 XT and RX 7900 GRE. This confirms a 256-bit bus interface for high-end RDNA 4 cards and we can expect certain configurations to get 192-bit bus interfaces with 12GB VRAM capacities. Currently, there's no information on the type of
