AMD AM5+ Platform Mentioned With Two Granite Ridge “Ryzen Zen 5” CPUs In Microcode Extraction Tool

The latest update for the MC Extractor has added new AMD Granite Ridge "Ryzen Zen 5" CPUs and also mentions the AM5+ platform.

AMD's Zen 5-Based Ryzen "Granite Ridge" CPUs & AM5+ Platform Added In Latest MC Extractor Update

The latest version of the MC Extractor tool (v1.101.0 r293) has been released and adds support and detection for new components which include AMD's Zen 5 "Granite Ridge" Ryzen CPUs for desktops & also mentions AM5+.

Starting with the chips, there are two AMD Granite Ridge CPUs mentioned which will be part of the Ryzen "Zen 5" Desktop CPU family, these include:

  • AMD cpu00B40F40_ver0B404006_2024-02-02_D222E366
  • AMD cpu00B40F00_ver0B40002D_2023-10-27_9F40FB20

Details regarding the particular nature of these chips are slim but a @9550pro suggests that the first variant might be a qualification sample while the second variant might be an early ES variant. This is based on the dates mentioned alongside the CPU IDs with the former being listed in 2024 & the latter being a 2023 SKU. 8-core and 6-core variants of the AMD Granite Ridge CPUs have been spotted in shipping manifestos and are being supplied to motherboard vendors for early testing & evaluation purposes. This highlights the beginning of the support process for the upcoming Ryzen Zen 5 desktop family.

More interesting is the fact that the MC Extractor update also mentions the AM5+ platform and has added automatic data size detection and adjusted the microcode pattern for the new platform. The support is besides the added microcode detection for 00B40Fxx CPU IDs (Granite Ridge - Ryzen Zen 5).

AMD has previously committed to a 2025+ plan for the AM5 socket so it's unlikely that AM5+ refers to a brand-new socket or platform such as AM6 or beyond. AM5+ is likely an update for the existing AM5 platform with the same socket but advanced new features which could be introduced
