All Nippon Airways debuts the ‘world’s first’ airline saftey video featuring Pokémon

All Nippon Airways (ANA) has collaborated with The Pokémon Company to create the world’s first in-flight safety video featuring Pokémon.

The video, which you can watch above, is a Pokémon-themed spin on a traditional airline safety video. The video features Pokémon such as Pikachu, Pichu, Psyduck, Machamp, Machoke and more.

“With this collaboration, we aim to provide excitement to our customers and provide an in-flight safety video that can be enjoyed by people of all ages,” reads a press release from ANA.

The video will be shown on both the “Pikachu Jet NH” and the “Eevee Jet NH” aircraft.

The video is full of new, bespoke animation featuring the various Pokémon. For example, the video includes Mr Mime showing passengers how to lower an oxygen mask onto their face, and tighten it.

The Pokémon Company has been collaborating with airlines for years, with the first Pokémon-themed airplane livery debuting over 20 years ago, but this is the first time the company has allowed its characters to feature in a safety video of this kind.

Several Japanese airports and Singapore’s Changi Airport feature aviation-themed Pokémon merchandise that can only be purchased in those locations. The in-flight items on the Pokémon ANA flights resell online for huge markups, despite often being something as simple as a paper cup or napkin.
