After 22-Year-Old Promise, Next Star Wars Game Will Finally Let You Play As Boba Fett

It's already exciting that is receiving the remaster it's always deserved but what makes it even better is that developer Asypr is giving fans the Easter egg that should have been in the original game. Released in 2002, LucasArts' cult-classic third-person action-adventure game served as a tie-in for by providing Jango Fett's backstory. While it may no longer be canon, it's good to see Aspyr bringing some of the more obscure games to modern platforms, especially when it goes above and beyond.

Writing on the official PlayStation blog, Aspyr confirmed the addition of a Boba Fett skin to its remastered version of , making good on a tease that's bothered fans for over 20 years. In the original version of the game, it was possible to discover a low-resolution texture that featured Aurebesh text reading "." Players worked for years to figure out how to earn the new skin but it turns out that while the tease made it into the final game, Boba Fett didn't make the cut.

The final issue of Marvel's Jango Fett series reveals Boba's father faced a similar «War of the Bounty Hunters» decades before his son was even born.

Aspyr confirmed that those who complete the game's campaign will unlock the Boba Fett skin, allowing them to play through the entire story as the son of the galaxy's most feared bounty hunter. While it was previously believed that players needed to complete the game 100% to unlock the skin, that limitation has seemingly been ditched for the remaster. It's undoubtedly a fun inclusion and one that will make veterans very pleased given the amount of time spent trying to unlock Boba Fett in the game's first version.

Launching on August 1, Aspyr's remastered will feature a plethora of upgrades for the original 2002 title.
