A former PlayStation console exclusive is headed to Xbox this summer

Kena Coming to Xbox — August 15

Kena: Bridge of Spirits, an indie adventure game that released in 2021 as a PlayStation console exclusive, is making its way to Xbox consoles this summer.

The action-adventure title, the debut title of Ember Lab, will launch for Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One on Aug. 15. It’ll be available digitally for $40, but Xbox Series X/S owners can also purchase a physical Premium Edition, which will include the digital soundtrack and stickers. The physical edition will also cost $40, and will be available at major retailers worldwide.

Xbox owners will also get some exclusive cosmetics: pirate-themed Rot hats, a unique Kena Staff, and a Golden Rot skin.

Kena was originally released on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via the Epic Games Store in September 2021, and it came to Steam a year later. It was one of PlayStation’s most heavily marketed indie games ahead of the PS5 launch, touting graphics akin to what players might find in a larger-budget AAA game. It follows the tale of Kena, a spirit guide who has to help a spirit move on before it completely corrupts the forest. Along the way, you’ll collect companions known as the Rot that can help you with solving puzzles or in combat.

While it was never officially confirmed until now, there had been clues that Kena might be coming to Xbox. In a post on X (formerly Twitter) from 2023, the official Kena account said “Never say never!” to a user who was mourning the fact that the game never left PlayStation exclusivity. “While we don’t have plans for it at the moment, please have your notifications on in case we make any announcements!” the post continued.
