A Fan-Favorite PS1 Franchise May Be Hitting Xbox Game Pass Soon

A fan-favorite PlayStation 1 franchise,, may be coming to Xbox Game Pass soon, according to recent speculation. Insomniac Games' original trilogy of titles was hugely popular upon its release between 1998 and 2000, with the titles being exclusive to the original PlayStation console. These titles underwent the remake treatment, developed by Toys for Bob and published by Activision, and were released across all platforms in 2018 as the bundle.

As reported by Comicbook, Klobrille — an X account that provides coverage on all Xbox first-party studios — has pointed out that has been added to the Microsoft Store for PC recently, alongside Xbox achievements.

Klobrille notes that this is usually a strong indicator that a Game Pass release is coming soon.

While the series was originally produced by Universal Interactive — who later became known as Vivendi Games — Activision Blizzard acquired the publishing rights in 2008 after merging with Vivendi, with the 's developers Toys for Bob being a subsidiary of Activision before going independent in February 2024 and essentially dashing any rumors of a being in the works. Therefore, it seemed inevitable that titles such as would be included as part of the Game Pass subscription once Microsoft acquired Activision Blizzard.

It was always clear that Xbox would add Activision-owned titles to its subscription, with many hoping for the arrival of the series or another previously PlayStation-exclusive franchise, in the near future. Comments below Klobrille's post indicate that many believed this would be announced in June as part of the next major Xbox showcase, but the potential arrival of suggests that it could be a lot sooner.
