2020’s Doom Eternal is getting a sequel and its probably not what you’re expecting. Revealed at this year’s Xbox Games Showcase, id Software showed off medieval prequel to Doom Eternal titled Doom: The Dark Ages.
After several rumors surrounding the upcoming prequel, was revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase, showing the Doom Slayer in a medieval-type setting equipped with an array of weapons that introduce more modern advancements to this era. Throughout this reveal trailer, Doom Slayer could be seen with a shotgun, futuristic armor — now with a fur cape — and more to aid him in fighting off hordes of enemies, merging them with weapons of the time, such as a mace, and a shield lined with a chainsaw rim to deliver the kind of brutal combat that players have come to expect from the series over the past three decades.
Developer id Software revealed Doom: The Dark Ages at the Xbox Games Showcase with a sizzling debut trailer, and a couple of the new weapons have left something of a lasting impression. Speaking at Summer Game Fest, studio creative director Hugo Martin says the studio set out to "make the weapons feel like the most powerful you've ever held in a Doom game, like that Skull Crusher you saw in the teaser."
