Qualcomm is expected to officially unveil the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 in October this year, so it is no surprise that the flagship’s engineering sample is being thoroughly tested and benchmarked to iron out the problems before commercial units are sent to the company’s phone partners. However, early results show that the chipset’s performance is beyond disappointing, with the performance cores said to be running at a significantly lower resolution than what previous reports suggested.

We've seen from our testing that means it will best RTX 4060 chips running at 65 W or less, such as the Nvidia GPU in the Transcend 14. You're also getting an Intel CPU that has 14 cores, 20 threads. Backing them up are 16GB of DDR5 RAM and, sadly, just a 512 GB NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD.

NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) had previously figured out to use lasers to beam a video of Taters the cat through space to the Psyche spacecraft, which at the time was around 30 million kilometres away. For Americans and Brits, that's really far away in miles. Today, however, JPL has figured out it can use lasers to communicate with that same craft now that it's over seven times further away and still score a 25 Mbps connection.
