The next game's protagonist seems like an obvious choice following the success of the Amazon Prime live-action adaptation. The Amazon series followed three main protagonists: Lucy, a naive vault dweller discovering the wasteland for the first time, Maximus, a squire of the Brotherhood of Steel, and Cooper Howard, a former Hollywood actor who mutated into a ghoul after the bombs fell and became a bounty hunter.
You can easily lose hours designing your village and appeasing your citizens in Manor Lords all by yourself. There are so many different avenues to achieve victory, but the only competition or help you can normally find is in the form of NPCs. Other factions around the map can be helpful or harmful depending on how you play, but what if you wanted to team up with a friend to combine resources, or perhaps compete to see who can crush the other first? Many strategy and city builders thrive on multiplayer components, but does Manor Lords offer those same modes? Make sure you know the answer before making your purchase if that’s your intention.
Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor released in early access in February, and developer Funday Games and Ghost Ship Publishing have announced that the spinoff of Deep Rock Galactic has now sold over a million copies. A Vampire Survivors-inspired take on the joys of dwarves space-mining in extreme peril, the initial reception has been positive and left our own Robin Valentine "much more hooked than I expected."
A just-released chaotic game in the vein of PlateUp and Overcooked takes the genre to the wild world of, uh, shipping logistics. An incredibly talented cosplayer has created an extremely realistic that looks like one of the soldiers has walked out of the game. Since 's release in February 2024, players have flocked to Arrowhead Game Studios' cooperative third-person shooter in droves to do their part for Super Earth, fighting off the bug-like Terminids and the robotic Automatons to bring peace and democracy to the galaxy.
The Fallout show's naive Vault-dweller Lucy strikes me as a tricky character to pull off—too wide-eyed and it's just annoying—but actor Ella Purnell artfully balances her performance on the edge between dopiness and competence. I think she responded very successfully to the description that sold her on the part, which was roughly 'Ned Flanders, but with a violent edge.'
