A talented artist who loves Pokemon has recently designed a “disrupted evolution” for Kakuna, giving the Bug-type creature an extremely uncanny new form. The Pokemon community has engaged with fan art ever since the franchise’s start in the 90s, and this artwork shows just how creative the fans can be.
The biggest name in city builders has a few cracks in its foundation. When it launched late in 2023, it was pretty obvious that Cities: Skylines 2 would have benefited from some more time in development, and thanks to optimization issues and a lack of mod support, the city builder sequel currently has «Mixed» reviews on Steam—with recent reviews dipping into «Mostly Negative» territory. Ensemble's Age of Empires 2 released in 1999, and I know of at least one person who thinks gaming never got better than this. They're clearly not alone, either, as this game has proven to have an enormously long tail and, after being supported by the community for most of its existence, got the full-fat remaster treatment it deserved with 2019's Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition (developed by Forgotten Worlds under the aegis of the AoE-focused World's Edge studio).
Helldivers 2 has been the surprise hit of February, but it has also been surprisingly hard to get into the game. Server issues are frequent, and while Arrowhead Game Studios is actively working to resolve these issues, Helldivers 2’s online experience is far from perfect. If you’re frustrated at not being able to play Helldivers 2, but want to play something similar, there’s another fantastic option.
The developer of Baldur's Gate 3 has given an update on mod support while reminding fans that toxicity toward its progress "will only harm the conversation."
