Borderlands' boss has promised that fan favorite characters missing from the upcoming film adaptation are still "integral" to the series.
Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford says that Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, the fantasy-themed spinoff from the Borderlands series, was «wildly successful» and that it's reasonable for fans to expect more from the series in the future. Pitchford's comments echo what he said around the launch of Wonderlands, when he said that Gearbox may well have «a new franchise» in the fantasy series.
If it weren’t for the original Borderlands, the looter-shooter genre wouldn’t exist as we know it today. This hybrid RPG FPS from Gearbox not only introduced us to the wild and wacky world of Pandora and Vault Hunters but also the addictive loop of grinding for endless amounts of guns. Tiny Tina's Wonderlands was a massive success for the Borderlands studio, according to Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford, which means that it's not unrealistic that fans should "expect more there."
Borderlands is a funny old series—one I have plenty of affection for, clumsy story aside. Gearbox's CEO Randy Pitchford has revealed that the "next Borderlands title" is near getting its curtains pulled down and that fans won't have to wait long.
It's been several years since the last Borderlands game, and with the Borderlands movie just a short distance away, you might be wondering when the franchise will be returning to the interactive realm. Randy Pitchford, head of developer Gearbox, says we're not going to have to wait forever for an answer to that question.
