Giovanni Colantonio - Even in alpha, Splitgate 2 already feels like the next great shooter - digitaltrends.com

Even in alpha, Splitgate 2 already feels like the next great shooter

Back in 2021, Splitgate took me by surprise. While it had been kicking around for two years prior, I didn’t dig into it until its relaunch. Once I did, I was mesmerized. It was an incredibly tight shooter that brought me back to Halo’s golden years, but one with a truly innovative portal mechanic that made action feel more cerebral. Developer 1047 Games wasn’t expecting so many people like me to fall in love with it either. After a whirlwind year of popularity, the studio decided to end support on the viral hit and start building a sequel with a stronger foundation rather fixing a rusting one on the fly.

Phew, You Don't Need To Worry About Honkai: Star Rail's New Leaked System Anymore

A new gameplay system leaked for 2.5 was originally putting players at a disadvantage, but it seems like the mechanics have undergone a much-needed buff ahead of the update’s arrival. Version 2.5 will continue the story arc started with Version 2.4, which sent players back to the Xianzhou Luoufu to attend the Wardance. There are already a few confirmed details about what players can expect from the next patch, starting with the hunt for Hoolay, a prisoner who escaped the Shackling Prison. There are also three confirmed characters: Moze, Lingsha, and Feixiao in 2.5.

Blizzard is still updating Heroes of the Storm on an almost monthly basis, and I just think that's nice

Pour one out for Heroes of the Storm, Blizzard's belated entry into the genre that spawned from an old Warcraft mod, and the only MOBA I've ever loved. HotS is a brilliant game but arrived on the scene a little too late to make any kind of serious impact, with the field dominated then as now by League of Legends and Dota 2, and despite Blizzard's best efforts and a 2017 reboot as HotS 2.0, development began winding down: in 2022, the developer finally announced it wouldn't be creating any new content for the game.

Black Mirror creator offers a new premonition of humanity's self-wrought tech apocalypse, and it's Balatro on phones: 'It's possibly the most addictive thing ever created'

Black Mirror has proven itself unnervingly prescient. While watching the first few seasons of Netflix's dystopian anthology, I thought it clutched the "what if phones but too much" pearls a little too tightly. But given that I've since come to think of my phone as a wretched obelisk that radiates psychic harm, I'm now more inclined to listen when series creator Charlie Brooker says there's an impending threat to humanity and it's Balatro on phones.

FF7 Fan Creates Jaw-Dropping, 35-Pound Buster Sword Entirely From Steel - screenrant.com

FF7 Fan Creates Jaw-Dropping, 35-Pound Buster Sword Entirely From Steel

has become incredibly entrenched in video game iconography over the years, and one of its most iconic visual elements is the Buster Sword. As a giant, angular slab of metal, the Buster Sword leaps out of any image of a battle-ready Cloud. The remake games have thrown in a lot of new alternative weapons for Cloud, but as fun as some of the other designs can be, it's hard to compete with the original titan.

Borderlands 4: everything we know so far

If it weren’t for the original Borderlands, the looter-shooter genre wouldn’t exist as we know it today. This hybrid RPG first-person shooter from Gearbox not only introduced us to the wild and wacky world of Pandora and Vault Hunters, but also to the addictive loop of grinding for endless amounts of guns. The sequel was even better, perhaps one of the best video games of all time for some, but the third was a mixed bag. It managed to keep people playing thanks to plenty of DLC and being a great cross-platform game for co-op, but we’ve all been waiting for a fresh adventure on Pandora.
