A new Starfield mod succeeds where the base game couldn't, adding real elevators with no loading screen to Bethesda's sci-fi roleplaying game. Modder EdgiestSwing23 uploaded it this week on Nexus Mods, though it should be clarified that the mod only covers some of the elevators found in Starfield.
Fallout: New Vegas holds kind of a weird spot in the Fallout canon. It's widely regarded as the best of the Bethesda-era Fallouts (although personally, I preferred Fallout 3) and it's also viewed by many as sort of a red-headed stepchild: No matter how many times Todd Howard insistently denies it, there's a lingering sense among some fans that Bethesda—which did not actually make New Vegas—would like to bury it.
The lack of land vehicles in Starfield was always a bit puzzling for some fans of the sci-fi RPG developed by Bethesda. The confirmation came in June 2023 from Todd Howard himself, who explained:
As QuakeCon kicked off yesterday I was surprised and delighted to see a familiar name pop up repeatedly in Bethesda's stream. No, not Todd Howard. Not Marty Stratton. Not Doom Guy or John Starfield or Beth Esda (the reclusive and rarely-seen 106-year-old owner of Bethesda Game Studios).
