Despite the implosion of Annapurna Interactive—whose entire staff quit earlier this week—the recent deal its parent company, Annapurna Pictures, made with Alan Wake developer Remedy Entertainment will remain intact, according to the studio's communications director Thomas Puha.
Just a couple of weeks ago, Remedy announced a partnership with Annapurna to co-finance (with an even split) the development of Control 2, as well as to develop movies and TV shows based on the Control and Alan Wake IPs.
The video game industry was rocked on Thursday with the news that Annapurna Interactive, the publisher behind successful indie and AA hits like Stray and The Outer Wilds, had lost its entire team.
The entire workforce of Annapurna Interactive, the video game publishing division of Annapurna studio, has resigned.
Remedy will self-publish Control 2 as part of a new «strategic cooperation agreement» with Annapurna. A press release accompanying the announcement says Annapurna will provide half of Control 2's development budget, and in return gains the rights to adapt Control and Alan Wake for film and television.
The Alan Wake TV series from AMC is no longer moving forward, GamesRadar+ can confirm, as Remedy Entertainment partners with Annapurna to develop and produce Control and Alan Wake adaptations for film and television. "We have moved on from AMC amicably as their rights to Alan Wake expired. Annapurna is now leading the charge to take Control and Alan Wake to film, TV, and beyond," Thomas Puha, Remedy's communications director, tells me.
Remedy has announced that Annapurna will be co-financing Control 2, and bringing Remedy IP to TV and movies.
Yesterday, at Summer Game Fest 2024, Remedy's Sam Lake announced that the first Alan Wake 2 DLC, Night Springs, would launch later today.
