Modiphius has cemented themselves as the go-to developers of tabletop adaptations of existing properties, with board games based on Skyrim and Homeworld as well as pen-and-paper RPGs based on Tales from the Loop, Fallout, Alien, Blade Runner, and Dishonored, among others. A potential remaster of the cult Discworld games is on hold owing to a licensing issue that involves the British Monarchy. Developed by Perfect Entertainment, Discworld, Discworld 2, and Discworld Noir were point-and-click adventure games that were released between 1995 and 1999 across PC, PlayStation, and the Sega Saturn.
At a time when classic PC games are more accessible than ever, the Discworld trilogy of adventure games has remained frustratingly elusive. Based on Terry Pratchett's long-running comic fantasy series, the three adventure games—Discworld, Discworld 2, and Discworld Noir, were developed by Perfect Entertainment and released between 1995 and 1999. Perfect shut down shortly after Noir launched, and ever since the trilogy has been abandonware.
A re-release of the 90s point-and-click Discworld game «may happen», designer Gregg Barnett has teased. However, the developer said because of the way intellectual property rights work in the UK, 50 percent of the game currently belongs to the crown, which complicates matters a tad.
