YouTuber spots something unusual about Skyrim's river flow, modder gets on it immediately

I enjoy Any Austin's Skyrim videos, many of which involve calculating the unemployment rate of Skyrim's settlements. He's a chill presence in the Skyrim scene, finding mundane threads and pulling them to see what unravels. His recent video was a perfect example of this, starting on a bridge over the White River in Riverwood and following it to the Sea of Ghosts, taking diversions every time a tributary flowed into it to identify their sources.

Helldivers 2 only became a live-service game halfway through development, but 'feels like what live service was born to do'

Russ Nickel, former lead writer of Helldivers 2, was recently interviewed by Inverse, where he explained that developers Arrowhead didn't decide it was going to be a service game until well after beginning work on it. Its popularity sure suggests it was the right call to make. «This feels like what live service was born to do», Nickel said. «For a while, Arrowhead didn't know if the sequel was going to be a live-service title. But as we talked about it more, it was clear that this would make for such a cool live service experience, one where the story can change constantly so it really does feel alive.»

D&D's new rules will be available under a Creative Commons licence

Last year the Dungeons & Dragons community imploded over a leaked draft of a licence change that suggested Wizards of the Coast was planning to restrict how the D&D rules could be used by anyone publishing third-party supplements, or separate games derived from D&D's 5th edition ruleset. At the peak of the outrage, Wizards of the Coast fully retreated from the proposed changes, and promised to make the base rules available under a Creative Commons licence.

Looks like Space Marine 2 will continue the first game's grand tradition of PvP multiplayer

A video uploaded to YouTube by prdalien0 showing a flick-through of The Art and Making of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 seems to have confirmed Saber Interactive's sequel will have a PvP mode. A two-page spread shows the armor of Chaos Space Marines who will apparently be playable in the mode, from the chapters of the Death Guard, Black Legion, Iron Warriors, Night Lords, Alpha Legion, and World Eaters.

Sony backs down on demand that Helldivers 2 players log into a PSN account

A few days ago, Sony posted a message to Steam noting that, «Due to technical issues at the launch of HELLDIVERS 2, we allowed the linking requirements for Steam accounts to a PlayStation Network account to be temporarily optional. That grace period will now expire.» That went down well with PC players, who were delighted to be allowed to hand over their personal details to Sony.

The Magic: The Gathering manga set in the '90s will come out in English at last

There have been plenty of Magic: The Gathering comics released in the west, including a free digital manga tie-in for the Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty set, but frustratingly the series that's been serialized in Monthly Shōnen Ace since 2018 has remained Japan-exclusive—until now.

Dragon's Dogma 2 looks drastically different with path-tracing enabled thanks to a mod

I stopped playing Dragon's Dogma 2 because it was too janky for me, and I'm saying that as someone who plays Bethesda RPGs. If you're still into Capcom's camp-em-up, you might be interested in this mod, which enables a path-tracing setting normally hidden from players.
