Steamworld Heist 2 MSRP $30.00 Score Details Pros
It’s been a peculiar year for the Nintendo Switch. The system has gotten a new exclusive every month this year, but few heavy hitters. Remakes and ports have padded out 2024, while smaller experiments like Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition have filled the cracks in between. There’s few games this year that would rank on my list of all-time favorite Switch exclusives — except for one.
When I want to play a video game, I have no shortage of devices that can help me do that: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Nintendo Switch, PC, MacBook, Steam Deck OLED, Legion Go, Ayaneo 2S, PlayStation Portal, Meta Quest 3, PlayStation VR2, iiRcade, Playdate, iPhone, iPad, and even on my Samsung TV and Amazon Fire Stick via cloud streaming. If it can run games, there’s a good chance I have access to it.
I was raised on British comedy. It was one of the few things my father and I both agreed on, so I spent plenty of nights watching Monty Python’s Flying Circus and Mr. Bean. Shows like that became formative, as I grew a love for physical comedy and ridiculous gags by studying silly walks. To an outsider, it all might just look like random jokes that don’t make much sense, but there’s an art for absurdity that the British comedy scene nailed.
If you’ve ever been bowling, you’re probably seen your fair share of weird animations that play every time you roll a ball. Bowling alley videos have an unmistakable low-budget aesthetic that’s surreal and just a bit unsettling. Who hasn’t wanted to smash a TV after throwing a gutter ball and getting mocked by creepy, sentient pins?
The Nintendo Switch just got a new free-to-play exclusive, and it’s a big deal for a very niche but dedicated fanbase. The New Denpa Men is the latest entry in developer Genius Sonority’s Denpa Men series. If you haven’t heard of that before, there’s good reason. The series debuted on Nintendo 3DS and has had several entries since, spanning out to mobile, but its most recent installments were exclusive to Japan. The Switch release brings the quirky RPG back west, which marks an exciting return for its cult following.
