This cyberpunk detective game is one of 2024’s best hidden gems

Nobody Wants To Die has almost every detective noir staple in one game. You play as a hard-boiled detective with a tragic past and a drinking problem. There’s a good-cop/bad-cop dynamic with your partner as you work together to solve a murder case that exposes the city’s morally corrupt underbelly. It takes place in New York City. The former had a playable epilogue called The Answer, while the latter added a female protagonist.

If you love Helldivers 2, try this bug-squashing game next

Helldivers 2 took the world by storm earlier this year with its hilarious emergent gameplay moments and satirical story that took a stab at fascism. While that felt like a breath of fresh air, it’s not the first game to tackle those ideas. The Earth Defense Force series has been around longer than Helldivers has, bringing Starship Troopers-like action to players. Earth Defense Force and Helldivers share a lot in common, from their story premises to their gameplay styles. Both involve killing waves of monsters and having an absolute blast while doing so.

This underrated Switch RPG will hold you over until Persona 6

I remember back in 2014 when I was keeping my eye out for any rumor I could find about Persona 5. Having seen the teaser trailers of the game, I was so excited to see it finally release in 2015. That year passed without it launching. When Persona 5 was released in Japan in September 2016, the wait for its April 2017 international release was excruciating.
