A new ride for the upcoming Donkey Kong-themed section of Universal Studios Japan's Super Nintendo World will give parkgoers a very hands-on and thrilling series throwback, according to reports. The attraction apparently uses a simple yet clever design to provide this experience.

Sheinberg was a lawyer by training and, looking at Donkey Kong, he saw a potential infringement on Universal's copyright for King Kong: nevermind the name, both had gorillas and a damsel in distress.

The Super Nintendo World theme park has a number of Super Mario Bros. related items and attractions, including a restaurant, rides, and even photo opportunities with characters like Princess Peach. Shortly after the park's grand opening in Japan, Nintendo announced an expansion would be coming to the park that will open later in 2024.

Billy Mitchell is one of the most infamous figures within the pro gamer landscape, having first risen to prominence during the arcade days of the 1980s and 1990s by setting records for such titles as the original Pac-Man and Donkey Kong. He would gain a new level of fame after re-breaking the record score for Donkey Kongmultiple times during the 2000s, with his resulting rivalry with fellow gamer Steve Wiebe being chronicled in the 2007 documentary The King of Kong.
Retro video game high score chaser Billy Mitchell has had his Donkey Kong scores reinstated to an extent on the Twin Galaxies website, six years after they were removed.
