Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is a game I'm very interested in. I was interested in the original way back in 2017 when I previewed it following a hands-on. I played the game and thoroughly enjoyed it, and considering it has sold six million copies, I would say more than a few other people enjoyed it, too.

It's been a while since I last wrote about Black Desert Online, and it's been even longer since I reviewed it in 2016. I have played it since then, but something always gets in the way, such as eating, sleeping, and bathing. However, I recently attended Heidel Ball 2024 as a guest of Pearl Abyss in Beynac-et-Cazenac, the inspiration of Heidel itself, and learned about what's coming. They're not slowing down.
While in Warsaw with 11 bit studios, I got hands-on with The Alters and a Q&A session. I also had a Q&A session on Frostpunk 2 and hands-on with the new story mode. Having only recently had a hands-on with the utopia builder mode of Frostpunk 2, I was keen to see where the story here would jump off from the original.
Recently, I posted a preview and a Q&A with developers 11 bit studios about their upcoming title, The Alters. During the same trip, I also got hands-on with Frostpunk 2, specifically the start of the campaign mode, which is a direct follow-up to the original game.
Polish developer 11 bit studios is mostly known to gamers for This War of Mine and Frostpunk, but with The Alters, they are doing something very different. It's a sci-fi survival game where you play as miner Jan Dolski, who is stranded on an alien planet and must find a way to repair his mobile base and get the hell out of the planet before the local sun's lethal radiation kills him.
The Alters is a video game developed and published by 11 bit studios. A large part of this team also created the outstanding This War of Mine. That is the extent of what I knew about The Alters, going into my time recently spent in Warsaw with the studio, and it was honestly all I needed to know. From the Anomaly games to This War of Mine and Frostpunk, 11 Bit Studios is a developer I trust (also as a publisher, following titles like Moonlighter, Children of Morta and The Invincible), so my recent hands-on time with The Alters and the story mode of Frostpunk 2 (preview of the earlier beta here) offered an opportunity to see if that trust would remain after an early look.
