BOE and Intel's AI display tech reportedly reduces screen power consumption by up to 65% in Lunar Lake laptops by dropping the refresh rate on parts of the panel

Intel has already said that it's designed the most efficient x86 processor ever in its upcoming Lunar Lake mobile chips—which, in tandem with its performance claims, has made us rather excited about the prospect of battery-sipping mobile devices with some genuine gaming grunt. Now a report says that BOE's new Winning Display 1Hz tech, combined with V2 of Intel's Intelligent Display Technology, can reduce display power consumption by up to 65%.

'It's very emotional, it's really tense': Heavy lies the crown of AI dominance as Nvidia's Jensen Huang admits to getting just three hours sleep a night

All of us have pressures to endure in our working lives, and some of us have more than others. However, despite the perks, being the CEO of Nvidia seems like it'd come with a hefty dose of responsibility right now, as the company rides the crest of the AI hardware wave.

'We can't do computer graphics anymore without artificial intelligence. We compute one pixel, we infer the other 32': Jensen thinks AI is integral to next-gen graphics tech

Unless you've been living under a rock, you may have noticed a trend in PC gaming in recent years—and that trend is upscaling. While AMD's compute-based FSR has improved over its various iterations, as we recently found in our testing, it's still not a patch on Nvidia's AI-powered DLSS for image preservation. And according to Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, we're now at a point where AI has become all-but-essential for next-generation graphics tech.

Shure MV7+ podcast microphone review

When I found out Shure was discontinuing the Shure MV7 Podcast microphone, I felt a genuine twinge in my stomach. Y'see, I've been using two of the big beasties for vocal audio capture for years, and they've become like old friends. Slightly unwieldy perhaps, but as plug and play microphones, they were unparalleled.

This Acer gaming laptop delivers a ton of bang for your buck with a 2000p 165 Hz display, a proper RTX 4070, and 32 GB of DDR5 for $1,500

Acer Predator Triton Neo 16 | RTX 4070 | Core Ultra 9 185H | 16-inch | 2000p | 165 Hz | 32 GB DDR5 | 1 TB SSD | $1,899.99$1,499.99 at Amazon (save $400)Let's start with a caveat—the chassis here isn't the best-looking we've seen. But everything else about this laptop is great for the price, including a 140 W RTX 4070, a 16 core (six Performance, eight Efficient) Meteor Lake chip and a 16-inch 2000p LED-backlit IPS display. That resolution might be a bit much for the RTX 4070 in demanding games, but there's always DLSS 3 to keep the frame rate smooth. 32 GB of DDR5 is great to see, too.

Intel's next-gen Arrow Lake chips have been listed on a UK retailer website under the Core Ultra 200K branding, with specs that seem reasonable

Intel's Arrow Lake desktop processors are rumoured to be launching in the coming months, but when it comes to an official date or official specs, we're still none the wiser. Still, listings have been spotted for the new CPUs on a UK retailer's website—and while they're placeholders for now, they do show core counts and boost clocks that seem reasonable when compared to the current line up of Raptor Lake Refresh chips.

Sony makes a personal heatsink for the back of your neck and it's got a toasty-looking warming option, too

If you're anything like me, you will have spent an inordinate amount of time thinking about the cooling inside your PC. Keeping all those components in the right temperature ranges is essential for getting the best performance, but what about the fleshy meat-thing sitting in front of it?

'I don’t want AMD to be the company that only people who can afford Porsches and Ferraris can buy': AMD's Jack Hyunh says being 'King of the Hill' isn't the priority for its next-gen GPUs

When it comes to the top-end of the GPU market, AMD has struggled in recent years against Nvidia's offerings. The RX 7900 XT and RX 7900 XTX are far from bad graphics cards, but put up against the RTX 4080 Super and RTX 4090, it can be a tough sell to recommend the AMD cards against the green team opposition unless the price is right.
