To celebrate the upcoming release of Deadpool and Wolverine, which lands in theaters later this month, Marvel Snap released an animated trailer featuring the merc with a mouth talking excitedly, as he does, about upcoming summer drops. The video includes clips of Deadpool doing a TV pitchman bit, complete with an 800 number and various exhortations to «call now!» There's just one problem: The joke number is real, and I'm pretty sure it leads to an 800-number scam targeting elderly people.
Palia developer Singularity 6 is now part of the Daybreak Game Company, which announced today that it has acquired the studio «as a wholly owned subsidiary.» The takeover comes less than two months after Singularity 6 laid off 36 employees, reportedly representing roughly 40 percent of its workforce.
Piranha Bytes, the German developer of the Gothic, Risen, and Elex RPGs, has reportedly been closed by parent company Embracer Group. The closure comes less than six months after Piranha Bytes said it was "in a difficult situation" but was still trying to find a way to move ahead with its next game in order to keep the studio open.
It's hard to overstate how big Baldur's Gate 3 is. It's a massive sales hit, it claimed all the awards, and it turned Larian, already a well-respected studio thanks to its outstanding Divinity: Original Sin games, into RPG royalty. I think it's fair to say that nobody could have predicted this, but in the latest issue of Edge (via GamesRadar), Larian CEO Swen Vincke said he had big ambitions for the studio, and that there were only three games he felt could make it happen.
