New World: Aeternum Gets Launch Trailer and 'Trials of Aeternum' Introductory Event to Get You Started

New World: Aeternum  is setting us all up for the game’s big relaunch on PC and launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox with a new launch trailer and the introduction of the Trials of Aeternum kickoff event.

The new trailer introduces the mysterious island of Aeternum and hints at some of its more supernatural elements and legends, all while giving us a look at some of the environments, locations, and characters that you'll encounter. Amazon looks to be trying to introduce the concept and setting to get a few more undecided players on board and get everyone else ready for the launch on October 15th. 

One of the things we can look forward to at launch, in the Season of Opportunity, is the new Trials of Aeternum in game event. This event will last for three weeks and it is designed with a bunch of themed foundational challenges to get everyone started. Everyone will be divided into color-coded teams, determined by your platform. Green rewards for Xbox players, Blue rewards for PlayStation 5, and red rewards for those on PC. 

Each week, there will be new challenges, new rewards, and various team-specific rewards. Throughout the event, you can track your team's overall progress on a dedicated hub. You can only participate in the event on the new servers that support all platforms. If you already have characters on PC, you'll have to create a new character on one of the new servers to take part, but you can also play with friends on any platform and help each other get going. 

The first week is “Arrive”,  which is pretty self-explanatory since the game will launch, and everyone can arrive on this mysterious island and begin their adventures. 

The first week's challenges will be revealed on launch day and every week after that the new challenges will refresh. What Amazon has revealed are the rewards for each week, including one color-coded, tradable reward, that you can earn only via content creators.
