Is Frostpunk 2 On Xbox Game Pass?

is the long-awaited sequel to a hit city-builder game, maintaining the unique survival focus of the first title while taking things to a bigger scale. As an expanded and overhauled sequel, does end up commanding a bigger price tag, jumping from the $29.99 cost of its predecessor to $44.99. Even for fans, it's not an investment to take lightly, which makes the possibility of getting the game through a subscription service an appealing alternative.

Xbox Game Pass has gained a lot of popularity as a way to play both new releases and a large back catalog for a flat subscription fee, with plans that provide access to games on both Xbox consoles and PC. Day one releases are a big part of the brand, ensuring that Game Pass users don't have to wait to play a lot of major titles for free. Any game that's officially published under the Xbox Games umbrella can be expected to appear as part of the day one roster, but third-party releases like are always a toss-up.

Fortunately for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, will be available as a day one release on September 20 on the service, as noted on the official Xbox store page for the game. Accessing the game will require a subscription to either PC Game Pass, which costs $11.99 a month, or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which raises the price to $19.99.

Although a console release is planned for, it's not yet clear when that will happen, as the September 20 release date for the game only applies to PC.

While PC Game Pass only provides access to games on PC, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate works for PC, console, and cloud gaming. Anyone subscribing just to play should be fine sticking with the cheaper PC Game Pass option.

Even when comes to consoles, not every Xbox Game Pass user will be able to play it for free. The console-oriented Xbox Game Pass Core only provides access to a select few games, which isn't likely to include anytime soon. The new Game Pass Standard splits the difference by including the majority of the library but excluding day one
