Ubisoft outlines plan to improve Star Wars Outlaws after ‘softer than expected’ sales

Ubisoft has said it’s committed to improving the quality of Star Wars Outlaws following a disappointing launch for the game.

In an update on Tuesday, the company said it’s working to get the game in shape in time for the holiday shopping season.

Following Star Wars Outlaws’ weaker than expected launch, Ubisoft has also delayed Assassin’s Creed Shadows to early 2025, and announced plans to depart from its traditional Season Pass model.

The company said Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which is now being released in February 2025, will mark the return of its new releases on Steam on day one.

“In response to player feedback, Ubisoft’s development teams are currently fully mobilized to swiftly implement a series of updates to polish and improve the player experience in order to engage a large audience during the holiday season to position Star Wars Outlaws as a strong long-term performer.”

Ubisoft also announced plans to release Star Wars Outlaws on Steam on November 21, 2024.

The creative director of Star Wars Outlaws recently said he was slightly disappointed with the critical reception to the game, but that Ubisoft was committed to improving it.

“I’m a little disappointed with the Metacritic; Of course, recognition from press and critics is very important to us, but players are really connecting with what we did,” he said.

There’s a “level of pride, happiness, and sense of accomplishment” amongst the team, and there’s still more to come from the game, he added.

“This will be a game that millions of people are going to play for years and years, and we’re never going to stop improving it,” he said. “Well, that’s a lie, we’ll probably stop
