NYT Connections: hints and answers for Thursday, August 22

Connections is the latest puzzle game from the New York Times. The game tasks you with categorizing a pool of 16 words into four secret (for now) groups by figuring out how the words relate to each other. The puzzle resets every night at midnight and each new puzzle has a varying degree of difficulty. Just like Wordle, you can keep track of your winning streak and compare your scores with friends.

Indie game devs band together to show off hidden RPG, FPS, and roguelike games all because a "Gamescom trailer is more than $100k"

My favorite games showcase of the summer hasn't come from Gamescom or the Summer Game Fest - it's come courtesy of a new Twitter trend that has indie developers showing off the games that they can't afford to platform at these big events.

Crimson Desert Is Sekiro & Shadow Of The Colossus Rolled Into One ARPG

My experience starts at Gamescom 2023, not this year's iteration. There, I was one of the few who got to attend a closed-door presentation of the upcoming action RPG's then-current build, watching a developer navigate a bustling city. The hero, Kliff, a warrior from a combat-hardened outfit, explored the city and unraveled a complex quest chain simply by donating a coin to a beggar and listening to his story. There wasn't a major prompt — it just happened naturally after the player decided to engage.

I can't decide whether I want this AI customer service chatbot Rickrolling users to actually be real… but I'm still here for it

I will admit, an AI Rickrolling a human completely off its own digital back has a certain appeal, and I'm willing to suspend some disbelief in the hope that maybe this customer service chatbot really did decide to fake-out a user with an OG meme. Freaky as that thought might be.

Secret Level's turning 15 games into animated shorts, but all we want to know is if that's actually Keanu Reeves piloting a mech

Amid all the video game trailers at Gamescom's Opening Night Live, a surprise gem appeared out of nowhere: Secret Level, an adult animated series by the creators of Love, Death + Robots.

Blizzard will inject a little WoW into Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred with a new co-op dungeon and party finder

Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred is starting to look a lot like a budding MMO—or something closer to Destiny 2 at least—with the Dark Citadel, an endgame four-player co-op dungeon with weekly rewards.

9 things we know about Inzoi from its new gameplay reveals

Hungry as life sim players are for a game to take on The Sims, it's been a bit difficult to keep track of the details on each of the in-development competitors. Inzoi, hands down the prettiest of the bunch, showed off a new gameplay trailer at Gamescom Opening Night Live but it didn't feel like there was a lot to learn from that quick look. The more useful info is actually coming from content creators who Krafton partnered with this week to post sponsored videos sharing their play time with a build of the game.
