Just as it did the last few years, June's bringing more to Minecraft in the form of the Tricky Trials update. Released today, Minecraft 1.21 combines the features doled out in recent preview snapshots, adding new blocks, new bad guys, and new bludgeoning implements.
Despite being a certified classic, I never played the original Yars’ Revenge on the Atari 2600. It was well before my time. However, Yars Rising caught my eye as a newcomer with its bright visuals and Metroidvania label. The radical reimaging is built just as much for old-school fans of the classics as it is for new players who have never even heard of the series. In a hands-on demo at Summer Game Fest, I played through an opening chunk of the game, fought my first boss, and even tried a handful of new abilities that show just how deep the Metroidvania goes.
The newest update for has been titled “Tricky Trials,” leaning heavily into the implementation of new challenges this update will add to the game for players. Like all new Minecraft updates, this brings new enemies, new crops, and new special items to uncover and aid in players’ journeys – though Mojang has yet to spill all the details just yet.
Developer id Software revealed Doom: The Dark Ages at the Xbox Games Showcase with a sizzling debut trailer, and a couple of the new weapons have left something of a lasting impression. Speaking at Summer Game Fest, studio creative director Hugo Martin says the studio set out to "make the weapons feel like the most powerful you've ever held in a Doom game, like that Skull Crusher you saw in the teaser."

Klowntalities are special finishing moves in you can unlock for new animations that play when you kill downed human characters. While you get several of these moves by default when starting the game, you can obtain more by completing various challenges. Those with extra Klowntalities can customize how they eliminate enemy players from an ongoing match permanently.
Earlier this year, some developers with experience working on games like Cyberpunk 2077 and BioShock formed Antistatic Studios to work on a PvE shooter codenamed Hornet. During today's PC Gaming Show, the team revealed codename Hornet is officially Phantom Line, a 1-to-4-player co-op shooter set in a post-nuclear Europe.
