Baldur's Gate 3's champion speedrunner just smashed two world records in as many days through the power of friendly fire, invisible bears, and throwing a guy off a bridge

Even after a standout AGDQ showing, prolific Baldur's Gate 3 speedrunner Mae shows no signs of pumping the brakes any time soon. Building on the strategies shown off at AGDQ, the runner brought BG3's all-acts world record under 20 minutes before zipping through the megahard permadeath Honour mode in 21:17 for another world record the very next day.

Palworld creator Pocketpair has another game in the works, and it looks like Hollow Knight with co-op and base building

Palworld has absolutely taken the real, non-pal world by storm, but no matter how big the survival crafting Pokémon brutality engine gets, I'm staying in my bunker to play crusty CRPGs from 1998 until the storm clears. Studio Pocketpair's next game, Never Grave: The Witch and the Curse, might be a little bit more my speed though.

Hogwarts Legacy's PlayStation-exclusive content is coming to other platforms this summer along with 'additional updates and features'

People like Hogwarts Legacy an awful lot—it was the biggest game of 2023—but one thing they didn't like (and by «they» I mean associate editor Ted Litchfield) was the inclusion of PlayStation-exclusive content. «How will we live without an exclusive quest and a Felix Felicis Potion Recipe?» he asked, in what I am certain was sincere and deeply-felt anguish. But Ted, and no doubt lots of other people, will be happy to know that content is coming to other platforms later this year.

Pizza Tower, 2023's best platformer, is getting a free update where you play as one of the villains with his own music and moveset: 'Think of it as a sort of New Game+'

Pizza Tower might be the best 2D platformer I've played since Hollow Knight, and if you want to restrict that to non-metroidvanias, I gotta go back to 2014's Shovel Knight for anything this good. A year after launch, developer Tour de Pizza now seems close to adding a long-promised mode where you play as one of the game's main bosses.

Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader players have one week to snag some free DLC cosmetics before they're gone for good

Owlcat Games has revealed a pair of cosmetic items that are free for all Rogue Trader players until February 1. The «Exclusive Rogue Trader Mask» and «Magnificent Rogue Trader Cloak» will presumably be locked in the Disney Vault (or the Games Workshop Vault, I guess) following this brief window.

Obsidian's next big RPG Avowed is looking to Vermintide's 'masterclass in having a sense of hitting and impact' to make its first-person sword-swinging feel weighty

Obsidian (the studio behind Pillars of Eternity, Fallout: New Vegas, and The Outer Worlds) released an extended gameplay trailer diving into its first-person RPG Avowed last week. PC Gamer's own Ted Litchfield sat down with both the game's director Carrie Patel and the gameplay director Gabe Paramo to talk shop.

Obsidian's Avowed is going 'classless', ditching Pillars of Eternity's crunchy stat-heavy builds in favour of Skyrim-like ability trees

I was downright gleeful when I learnt that Avowed—Obsidian's upcoming first-person fantasy RPG—was set in the Pillars of Eternity world of Eora. If there's one thing I'm perpetually a bit mad about, it's that the Pillars games didn't do much, much better than they did (If there's a second, it's that Tyranny somehow managed to do even worse). To my eyes, Avowed is the series' second shot at mainstream success.

Dragon's Dogma 2's director didn't want his game to rely on fast travel: 'Travel is boring? That's not true. It's only an issue because your game is boring'

In a recent interview with IGN, Dragon's Dogma 2 director Hideaki Itsuno didn't mince words when it comes to his preference for actually exploring open worlds instead of zipping around via the map menu express: «Travel is boring? That's not true. It's only an issue because your game is boring. All you have to do is make travel fun.»
