Stardew Valley's 1.6 update will arrive tomorrow, March 19, and may represent the last set of major additions to the game from creator Eric «ConcernedApe» Barone. Barone says to expect "a lot more… than people think" and in the runup to the patch's release has become drunk with power, posting a single patch note every day.
Konami has released the first video in what it's calling the Metal Gear Solid Legacy Series, companion videos to Metal Gear Solid: The Master Collection that offer a shorthand history lesson of the games' extensive lore. The opening video is six minutes long and presented by David Hayter, the voice actor of Solid Snake and Big Boss in Metal Gear Solids 1-4, and in its script does not mention Hideo Kojima once.
PocketPair CEO and Palworld creator Takuro Mizobe has given an interview to Bloomberg about the game's breakout success. During the interview Mizobe puts this down to, among other things, its unusual mix of influences and it being a game that's fun to watch as well as play with friends. But the scale of that success? It's both almost too much for Pocketpair to handle, and something that Mizobe is determined won't change the studio.
2024 has so far seen two breakout hits and, while they're very different prospects, both share some elements in common. Arrowhead's Helldivers 2 is the current flavour of the moment, while just before that we saw the huge success of PocketPair's Palworld. Valve is currently embroiled in a US antitrust lawsuit with Wolfire, a developer that alleges the Steam platform holder uses its position to unfairly crowd-out rivals and control game prices. Valve tried to have the suit dismissed, but in May 2022 the court ruled it could go ahead with some changes and enter the discovery phase: the juiciest part of the legal process where, among other things, plenty of internal correspondence from the companies involved is made public.
French esports club Team Vitality has announced that its star Counter-Strike player Mathieu «ZywOo» Herbaut, who helped the team win the last-ever CS:GO Major, has re-signed to stay with the Parisians until 2026. And boy is Vitality excited about the news.
