Helldivers 2's developer has doubled its player count following server issues, but says that it's "still not enough" to meet the demand.
Helldivers 2 has been suffering from success—a whirlwind launch that's now PlayStation's biggest PC success led to a swarm of server issues bugs, and not the kind you can shoot dead with a beam rifle.
Arrowhead Game Studios has confirmed that a number of Helldivers 2 server issues persist following the game's latest update. The developer also shared a suggestion for how Helldivers 2 players can side-step at least one of these problems while it's working on deploying a more permanent solution.
The CEO of Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead has discussed the design of the game’s in-game transactions, and how he believes titles with such micropayments need to “earn the right to monetise”.
Helldivers 2 creative director and Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt believes games should «earn the right to monetise», adding that whilst players are welcome to «support this title» by buying microtransactions, Arrowhead is «never forcing anyone to do so».

«It doesn't get much worse for a multiplayer launch», Fraser Brown wrote on the release of Helldivers 2, mentioning issues like «broken matchmaking, frequent crashes, and a kernel-level anti-cheat system that everyone hates.» The developers at Arrowhead have been working to rectify the issues, and according to an update from CEO Johan Pilestedt, three hotfixes deployed during a recent period of server maintenance have dealt with at least some of the problems.
