Helldivers 2 will «never» include a PvP mode in order to reduce toxic play.
Satirical sci-fi shooter sequel Helldivers 2 has got off to a flying start, and now its creator Arrowhead Game Studios has put out a call for fresh development talent so it can «accelerate and beef up» the game's content plans.
Helldivers 2, a solid third-person co-op shooter about blasting bugs, has been doing damn well for itself—too well, in fact, slamming right into the ceiling of Steam's global top sellers chart like a kid who didn't expect mentos to mix with coke quite so explosively. As a result, there have been some hefty server and performance issues.
Helldivers 2 is a video game with guns in it, which means somebody out there is clamoring for it to add a PvP mode, seemingly ignoring the fact that its lethal friendly fire means PvP is always at your fingertips. But according to CEO and creative director Johan Pilestedt of developer Arrowhead, a PvP mode is "never" going to happen because the inevitable toxicity ain't worth it.
Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead Game Studios has said it’s planning to staff up in response to the success of the title.
The head of Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead Game Studios has addressed the issue of microtransactions in the game amidst ongoing controversy regarding their use. The new sci-fi shooter just launched, but it's already got lots of gamers talking. Now, many are looking to the future of Helldivers 2 and how players will experience the title as they unlock more content.
has been a smash hit for developer Arrowhead Game Studios, but its massive launch has unfortunately resulted in some matchmaking and connection issues. Players may encounter a "" error in when trying to start the game. Even though missions are playable alone, the game is always online, since player actions are constantly contributing to the in-universe Galactic War pitting Super Earth against the Terminids and Automatons. While frustrating, this server error is actually a case of suffering from its own success.
Helldivers 2 has been praised for avoiding the tedious and intrusive microtransactions common among live-service shooters, so it's perhaps no coincidence that the game's creative director, Johan Pilestedt, reckons games "have to earn the right to monetize," which is why developer Arrowhead "really applied ourselves to not make it pay-to-win."
