During the first day of the Capcom Highlights event, the Japanese publisher announced the release of a free character creation tool for Dragon's Dogma 2.
Released back in 2019, Outward is an open-world survival RPG that’s managed to attract a fairly dedicated audience (Canadian developer Nine Dots Studio claims it’s sold over 1.3 million units). Back in 2022 we got a new “Definitive Edition” of the game for current-gen platforms, and now it seems a full-on sequel is in the works. Just announced today, Outward 2 will build on the foundation laid down by the first game, with livelier NPCs, improved character creation, updated combat, and more. You can check out a trailer for Outward 2, below.
Cyberpunk 2077 patch 2.12 hit the RPG on February 29 alongside some relatively short patch notes. The patch notably didn't mention a newly discovered Easter egg attached to an unassuming diner in Watson district, which the devs at CD Projekt Red were only recently musing about being undiscovered.
Unforetold: Witchstone showed a lot of promise when it launched into early access in January, but much of that potential was buried under jank: It's «damn impressive» when it works, Fraser Brown wrote back in February, but in its pre-1.0 state, much of it «is undone by bugs and wonky systems.»
Epic has revealed the next titles it's giving away on the Epic Games Store, with Deux Ex: Mankind Divided and The Bridge getting the freebie treatment from Thursday, 14th March.
The acclaimed dark fantasy collection RPG — RAID: Shadow Legends — has just marked its 5th anniversary! Since its launch in 2019, the game has surpassed 100 million downloads across various platforms and 12 billion hours of play time.
Released in 2019, Outward is «a gem of an RPG,» we said in our 89% review. It's also an unusual one: It's impossible to die in the game, but there's also no fast-travel and it's impossible to save-scum your way past trouble thanks to its mandatory auto-save system. It forces players to live with their failures and the consequences, which can be frustrating but also fodder for truly epic tales. «I love this game,» Chris Livingston wrote about his time with Outward. «I also, sometimes, hate this game.»
