One thing I was particularly curious about in the lead-up to Baldur's Gate 3's mondo-big Patch 7 was its change to Alfira, a fairly significant side-character and quest-giver. In the lead-up to release, Larian mentioned that Alfira would be able to level up and even respec with Withers, raising questions about her storyline and how it intersects with one of BG3's origin paths in particular. In Chapter 3 of , you'll quickly find yourself imprisoned in the Pagoda Realm with minimal means of escape. This feeling of confinement is seen through doors sealed with purple magic preventing you from finding a way out of the region's large jail. Important characters and useful loot are found past these doors, but only when you defeat a powerful boss.
Six secret areas can be found in as you explore different Chapters, but you have to complete different tasks to enter these hidden locations. One of the game's endings is tied to the discovery of every secret zone, so you'll want to find each one at some point. New NPCs, bosses, and gear can also be found in these spaces, making them important spots to visit.
At Gamescom 2024, I caught up with Rich Lambert, Game Director for Elder Scrolls Online at ZeniMax. This wasn't the first time I interviewed Rich - I met him in person at E3 2019, and then we had a number of remote interviews over the past five years or so. This year, though, is special for the MMORPG, which has turned 10. ZeniMax is doing several celebrations with the community throughout the whole year, with the excuse that the console version launched around a year after the PC version.
Arcane: Season 2 is fast-approaching after the first season basically took the world by storm in 2022. Having been an avid episode-by-episode watcher when it came out, it's been lauded for a lot of good reasons—drop-dead gorgeous animation, a tightly written script, a banger score, and an ability to successfully twist the knife into my heart. Now there's a new trailer, and hoo boy does it look like it's going to follow through on that stellar first swing.
September 2024 is looking to be a fun month in with the addition of a new event called the event. After a busy month in August with the introduction of Princess Tiana and Act III of the DLC, September will be a bit slower but still with a lot of fun.
