Assassin's Creed Shadows Interview: Brooke Davies On Dual Protagonists & Finally Taking Players To Japan

Releasing later this year, marks several firsts for the franchise, andspoke to Brooke Davies, the game's associate narrative director during Summer Game Fest. It’s the first entry to explore the setting of Japan, and also the first to feature a protagonist based on a real historical figure. The game stars two protagonists, Yasuke and Naoe, the former of which is based on a 16th century warrior.

Many Helldivers 2 troopers are only now realizing that their sprint is likely being impacted by someone using a stim - rather than their faulty keyboards or controllers.

Make memeified versions of Hideo Kojima and Gabe Newell fight in this bonkers Steam Next Fest roguelike

I beat Hideo Kojima. Not in a physical fight, because he's probably across the other side of the globe right now and, if I did ever bump into him, my first instinct wouldn't be to throw hands. And not in a metaphorical, "I overcame Death Stranding" kinda way. I beat Hideo Kojima, or his memeified counterpart, in a videogame demo.

The indie devs behind this Animal Crossing-like are shocked they got to make a sequel after so many mistakes with Cozy Grove, but Camp Spirit aims to make good

As I played the demo for Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit during Summer Game Fest, the devs told me how thrilled they were to get to make a sequel. After getting the original game into the hands of players, they said they quickly realized just how many balance issues there were, with inventory limits and overly pricey upgrades adding far too much friction to what was meant to be a chill Animal Crossing-like life sim. But however bad the devs themselves thought those problems were at launch, they didn't stop a devoted fanbase from growing, and Cozy Grove more than earned the right to a follow-up.

I was the first Black Myth: Wukong player at Summer Game Fest to beat this freaky optional boss, and I don't know how I'm gonna fit my ego through the door

As part of our Black Myth: Wukong hands-on preview, I found and beat about seven different bosses in the two-hour demo for the upcoming action RPG. It's good! Very good, even. I can't talk about one of the hidden bosses, but I can absolutely talk about one of the optional ones: the Wandering Wight, a towering, big-headed monk described as glowing like aged copper and roaming the mountains in search of something lost. I tell you what, reader, he's lost a lot more now but at least his search is over.

Lords of the Fallen 2, which is technically Lords of the Fallen 3, is due in 2026 and will probably be an Epic exclusive

Hexworks' striking (but rather unfriendly) soulslike Lords of the Fallen is unsurprisingly getting the sequel treatment. The spooky, masochistic ARPG made a pretty big impression, despite the performance issues, while its neat Umbral mechanic—which lets you shift between worlds—helped it avoid being consigned to the middling Dark Souls knock-off pile. Though I still can't get over the fact that it has exactly the same name as its 2014 predecessor, despite not being a remake.
