Helldivers 2 has announced the latest twist in its galactic war, and it's one that will have Helldivers rushing in en masse. The planet under attack by the Automatons is Tien Kwan, a name that will be familiar to any liberty-loving patriot who saw Arrowhead's mech tease a few days ago: Yep, this is the place where they make mechs.
It seems that we'll have to wait a while longer before we can expect mechs to be added to Helldivers 2, as developer Arrowhead Game Studios has declared the factory planet Tien Kwan to be under attack.
Capcom's latest trailer for Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, included in Wednesday's Xbox showcase, started how I expected. The character, creature and environmental designs are all pulling heavily from Japanese mythology, as we've seen in previous teasers for the game. There's some third person action reminiscent of Capcom classic Onimusha. But then the surprises start hitting: there are villagers to recruit and deploy in combat, spots on the map to «purge of defilement» to collect resources, zooming the camera out to building defensive structures, then fighting off waves of enemies…
You don't often see people calling Helldivers 2 an easy game, but just in case you wanted the difficulty to be taken up a notch further, the hit shooter has now added random environmental hazards to some of its planets. So, we now have even more threats to contend with.
Helldivers 2 just had its first balance update. While mechs are still en-route, this payload is certainly nothing to sniff at—especially since it's still adding one major feature to the game: True to the game's Starship Troopers inspiration, meteors are now a major concern for the hardworking patriots of Super Earth. I'm sure nothing bad will happen to Buenos Aires, though.
