Arrowhead implores Helldivers 2 players to temporarily stop using its most destructive weapon yet: Snowballs

War is hell, and the debasement and corruption of its participants only accelerates as humanity invents new, more spectacular, and more terrible weapons with which to prosecute it. Helldivers 2—with its arsenal of Breakers, Dominators, and Redeemers—is no different. But even Super Earth has limits, as Arrowhead has now implored Helldivers everywhere to refrain from using the game's most unintentionally destructive weapon of all: snowballs.

Baldur's Gate 3's latest hotfix declares 'No more free lunches' as it stops you bamboozling merchants with boxes, confusingly also makes it easier to literally give people free lunches

Larian is done with Baldur's Gate 3, but Baldur's Gate 3 isn't done with Larian. The studio just put out the game's 23rd hotfix, fixing a bunch of crashes and bugs and, notably, declaring «No more free lunches!» which is—in the case of this specific patch—metaphorically true, but entirely inaccurate in a literal sense.

Baldur's Gate 3 is bafflingly reactive. You can't drop-kick an owlbear without the ripples spreading out and causing some kind of reaction later on down the line. But it goes even deeper than I knew: In a recent interview, Larian CEO Swen Vincke shed some light on the studio's «n+1» design philosophy, and revealed just how far it goes to create solutions for times when «the player fucked up everything.»

As BioShock successor Judas preps for release, I finally understand what its 'narrative Legos' are

We're 11 years out from the death of Irrational, and Ken Levine is once again gearing up to put out a new game. The pre-release marketing wheels have begun to spin on Judas, Levine's totally-not-BioShock follow-up to his previous game: 2013's BioShock Infinite, which means we're finally getting to see what on Earth this game actually is. It looks, well, quite a bit like BioShock, at least at first glance.

RuneScape creators' new MMO has an unorthodox solution for the inevitable waves of bots: Giving you a 'legitimate way' to bot the game yourself

23 years after creating RuneScape, Andrew and Paul Gower are back with a new MMO. Brighter Shores, which has been in development for 10 years at the Gowers' studio Fen Research, looks like an attempt to reimagine RuneScape for the year of our Lord 2024, and in a way that avoids some of the flaws and pitfalls that have marked their original game over the decades. Such as bots, which have long been legion in RuneScape.

Once upon a time Baldur's Gate 3 let you recruit JK Simmons to your side, before Larian snipped it along with a visit to the series' origins

In Baldur's Gate 3, the real game is the friends you make along the way. I mean, there is the whole brainworms thing, but really you're just there to spend more time with its merry band of charming wackadoos. Apparently, that cast list was once even longer, as Swen Vincke revealed at this year's GDC that Ketheric Thorm—BG3's Act Two big bad—was once going to be a potential party member. Spoilers ahead for BG3's second act onwards.

Dead Space 2 players uncover easy money trick hidden right in front of them 13 years after release

If you're low on money, you can always just smash up an ATM. In Dead Space 2, I mean. I'm talking about the videogame Dead Space 2. Because 13 years after the game came out, players have stumbled upon the discovery that applying a bit of percussive (or ballistic) maintenance to the game's various inanimate objects can yield significant rewards.

Power-mad modder puts Sonic the Hedgehog at the heart of the most tedious game ever made, so you can speed boost to the end in 3 straight hours instead of 8

Some dreams cannot be denied, even though they absolutely should be. A modder named Weezley has taken the time and energy to recreate 1994's Desert Bus—widely regarded as one of the worst and most tedious games ever made—entirely within the confines of Sonic Frontiers. Why? Great question, my friend, great question.
