Stardew Valley players finally learn the truth: Eric Barone confirms that for the past 8 years, left-to-right harvesting has been 100ms faster than right-to-left harvesting

Stardew Valley players have theorized for years that harvesting crops from left to right is faster than harvesting them from right to left. Not hugely faster, hardly even noticeable, but just ever so slightly quicker. For non-Stardewers it's the sort of thing that sounds a little weird and even ridiculous—not quite up there with fake moon landings and «Elvis is alive» conspiracy theories, but of a similar nature. Eric Barone goes mad with power: He's revealing a single Stardew Valley patch note every day

«Power tends to corrupt,» Lord Acton warned us in 1870. «And absolute power corrupts absolutely.» Those words carry no less weight today than they did 150 years ago, and I can think of no more pointed example of the truth of his caution than that of Stardew Valley creator Eric Barone, who has clearly gone mad with the kind of power only attainable as a successful indie game developer: Stardew Valley's tyrant king is now taunting his long-suffering followers with a slow-drip release of patch notes for the upcoming 1.6 update.

Hey, some of Geralt's fashion works nicely with the Space Knight aesthetic.  Assassin's Creed, okay, that one was a bit of a stretch but Hunters and cloaks, I guess. But Ghostbusters? I have to admit I struggle to see where that one came from, but yup, it's happening.

The patch notes for the big Stardew Valley 1.6 update remain secret, but we do now know one change that's coming thanks to a patch note. Creator Eric Barone shared a wee little insight into the update on Twitter today, and it's got players awfully excited about their fruit trees.
