As exciting as it can be to identify a new lifeform in, one can't help but feel the system is a touch thin. Part of the joy of exploring unchartered worlds is documenting the various oddities prowling around its surface but without a solid means of tracking each discovery, they can start to feel like window-dressing rather than scientific specimens.

Over on Reddit, user Ares_from_Mars shared their suggestion for a comprehensive catalog of every plant and animal that can be discovered in Starfield.

Beyond looking incredibly professional, the guide provides information on the creature's biome, type, temperament, trophic level, food source, and even the resources that can be gathered from hunting it. As for the flora, all plants come with a breakdown that specifies their biome, type, genetics, reproduction method, and what's required to make them grow; every entry also includes a visual element, size comparisons, and a gallery of the player's photos.

One of the most common criticisms leveled at is the lack of intelligent alien life in the universe.A large part of the player base believes that Bethesda should have included some kind of intelligent lifeform for players to discover but after a year of scouring the known galaxy, no such species exists. Which isn't to say there aren't strange lifeforms to discover: Most planets have some kind of otherworldly creature but these are simply animals that aren't able to communicate.

Most of the fauna players will encounter during their time with will either passively go about the day or become aggressive, attacking immediately.
